Theft of Rescue Boat Engine, 6th March 2018

Posted on in UpdatesAdd Comment

The outboard engine for Folkestone Rescue’s lifeboat was stolen sometime between 14:30 Sunday 4th March and Tuesday 6th March at 16:00.

The details of the engine are Evinrude E-Tec 40 2006 S/N 05143831. The engine was removed from the boat without damaging it and the controls were taken as well so it is likely it is for own use or a specific person. The boat was stored in a locked compound and also had Outboard lock on the mounting bolts.

Folkestone Harbour Company is doing all they can to help track down the people that did this by reviewing CCTV of the harbour area. It is likely that the engine will surface in the boating community so please keep your eyes out for it.

Please call Kent Police on 101 quoting reference ZY-011060-18 if you see or hear anything.

While the engine is insured, there will be a shortfall of funds to replace it. You can donate to our fundraising campaign at gofundme.com.

Please keep an eye on your own equipment, as this was a professional theft from a location with good CCTV, frequent security patrols and they still managed it. Thank-you to Folkestone Harbour Company who have spent hours assisting with this incident and we are lucky to have such good support from them.
